This post has Valentine’s day in mind but I hope to encourage many women to recognize the amazing benefits of doing a photo session with us, whether it be for Valentine’s Day or ANYDAY. You will be pampered a bit…no, actually, a lot.
If you have considered doing a session, call me, email me, text me. I will be happy to share the details. Don’t expect that I will encourage you to do this for your significant other, although he/she will most definitely love it….I will ask that you do this for YOURSELF.
Step out of your comfort zone and discover how powerful and beautiful you are.

Model lady and pup WANTED

I am looking for a lovely Nantucket woman with her dog to model for a creative shoot in February/March. Date still to be determined.
The particulars:
Style will be uber feminine but with a little edge
-must be willing to devote 2.5-3 hours to photosession.
-must be Nantucket resident
-one dog only (sorry, I am a huge lover of multiples but not for this particular shoot)
-dog must be well trained, not anxious in unfamiliar surroundings nor camera-shy and able to sit-stay for periods of a minute or longer
-age of woman 21-65
-must be comfortable and super happy in your skin; willing to be styled in a dramatic fashion
-must be willing to sign full model release with understanding that images may be used for public display and may be published.

I will choose based on my “vision” for this session so please do not take offense if you are not chosen.
Model will receive DVD with chosen 10 images from session and print release for personal use only.

Please send image of you and your dog and a special statement that reflects why you would wish to be chosen for this project.

Thank you to all my wonderful clients and friends for an amazing 2011. Thank you for the laughter, the friendship and the privilege to photograph you.
It is definitely not the destination, but the journey. The relationships that one forms as a photographer are more special than I could have ever dreamed.
The journey will continue with even more energy in the upcoming months. Charlotte Carey Photography will be available exclusively for women’s boudoir and lifestyle portraiture and as always, will feature classic pet portraiture.
I know; very funny combination. The interesting thing about journeys is that along the way, you really do discover what feeds your soul.

So Long 2011

2011 was a wonderful year full of growth and surprises.
In the next few days will be featuring my favorite images from 2011. I was so blessed to meet such wonderful people and pets this year and hope that 2012 is even sweeter.

Yes, Christmas has not yet shown its happy face but I am already making plans for Valentine’s Day.
I will be booking a few select “Island Beauty” sessions in January. If you have been considering doing that special portrait session for yourself or your significant other, don’t think twice about it.
Styling, makeup, gorgeous location. We got you covered.
Can’t think of a better gift for Valentine’s Day, can you?

Kelsey {Nantucket Dog Photography}

I have been sitting on my hands for the past three months wanting to post about Kelsey, but unable until now.
Kelsey is the cherished Wheaten Terrier of an amazing medical colleague of mine. A portrait of Kelsey was requested by her staff as a surprise to her. I was only too happy to oblige.
She is spirited, affectionate and a touch stubborn…in all the right ways. She LOVED the beach and after getting used to the camera and realizing that I was indeed at some point going to play with her, all was well.
I am happy to finally share some images of this sweet girl now that her Mom has received her portrait. I understand that her Mom loves the large canvas portrait created for her. Surprise well played!

Doggone Sunday {Nantucket Dog Photography}

Sunday mornings always have a special feel, don’t they?
I usually feel like being a bit lazy on Sundays, but today the dogs inspired me to be a bit more energetic.
I should also add that although a bit chilly, the crystal clear sky and sunshine also inspired me. Ok, beach it is.
And the beach was good.

Liz and Al

This post is long overdue but I believe I am rounding out the end of the year nicely by featuring this wedding. I was very honored to be asked to photograph Liz and Al’s wedding and luckier still to have great help in my assistant, Jo.
They must have heard through the grapevine that Autumn weddings are my absolute favorite!
Liz and Al were married late September at St Mary’s church, downtown Nantucket with reception at a private home midisland.
Liz wore a gown by Amari Bridal and jewels by Idazz. Hair done by Teresa at A Cut Above. Catering was provided by Donna Leigh Emden and DJ was Billy Voss; (fabulous) cupcakes from Bartlett Farm, all Nantucket vendors.
Al’s brother travelled from Brazil and was a very special member at this party.
Interestingly, it was also a special anniversary for Liz’ parents!
Enjoy these images of this very special couple. I hope they have a lifetime of happiness and Al, may you always keep Liz surrounded by sunflowers.

Nantucket Portrait

I recently had the honor of photographing a dear friend of mine who has inspired and supported me in a way I can’t even describe.
I realize it sounds cliche but she is truly as beautiful on the inside as the outside. Unfortunately, can’t show you how gorgeous her heart is; you will just have to trust me on that because it is exceptional.
