We travelled off island to the Boston area last week to visit with Mango and her aunt and grandmother.

Mango’s Aunt Sally contacted me for a photo session as a surprise gift for her sister’s  (Mango’s Mom) birthday. I could not imagine a better gift

We took advantage of Mom heading to a Red Sox game to capture some images of Mango demonstrating that she is all Golden Retriever. The pink Cuz was an instant hit (they always are!) and of course a photo shoot in the summer with a Golden is never complete until numerous games of fetch in and out of  the water have occurred.

It was such a pleasure to meet Mango and her family; we only wish we got to meet her Mom. Hopefully she loves her surprise as much as we loved helping to create it.

Lily’s Mom, Rebecca, requested we photograph her at her family home here on Nantucket while they were here visiting. It was a truly spectacular evening and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was lovely to finally meet Rebecca with whom I had been sharing email exchages for a few months now. All our planning for the perfect Lily shoot was not in vain!

Lily is her Mom’s pride and joy and is every bit as sweet as she appears. Her features are so dainty but her bark is fierce!  Nary a bunny could play on the lawn without a warning from Lily.

We miss you already Lily and hope that you and Rebecca come back to Nantucket soon.

Word on the street is that you two did not make it to the ice cream shoppe when you were here; let’s do it next time.

Jed Vonnegut Perisano is a Terrier and Australian Shepherd mix and he is about 5 years young.

He was adopted by his forever Mom this past year after having been in many foster homes. His Mom, Annye, tells me that at the time he came into her life, she was not really looking for a dog.  A wonderful volunteer from our Nantucket MSPCA saw  the potential for a love connection right away and would bring Jed to visit Annye on a regular basis. It did not take much time before Annye fell for Jed and he for her.

Not hard to understand truly as the first time I met Jed, I fell for him also! Those eyes are very special and very knowing. He has this sweet soul that reminds you of an older wise man, but the playful nature of a toddler.

He was hesitant at first to play with the “devil cuz” but I hear that he does not let it out of his sight now….so glad to know that my choice of dog toys is well appreciated.

Thank you, Annye and Jed; I loved getting to know both of you. I am so glad you have found each other.

It seems that Petunia is very much a “Daddy’s girl”. I am not surprised. She is sweet, VERY affectionate and really, really playful. Nine years young, she had more energy on that afternoon than I would have expected.

Her Mom asked me before our shoot if I knew of where to obtain a pearl choker for her. Petunia once ago had a pink pearl collar that suited her very well.

from Sconset Flair Studio here on Nantucket came to the rescue and outfitted sweet Petunia with two gorgeous strands of faux dog-friendly pearls. We all think she looks smashing and she very much acted as if she knew how wonderful she looked.

Petunia, we had such a great time with you and your wonderful family. I so hope your Daddy loves his photos of you. Whenever you are in the mood to go visit the park on the cliff again, let me know.  I will wear my pearls too.

Louis (AKA: Louie) and his little brother Bruski (has more aliases than I can count!) kept us on our toes this past Monday evening. We photographed them at home in their wonderful sun filled yard here on Nantucket.

Bruski is in the photo immediately below and will soon be turning three.

Louie is in the bottom photo and is eight years young. 

The green lipped mussel treats were a huge hit and helped us to grab these candids of these sweet boys.

These photos will be a special gift to the boys’ Dad for Father’s Day. We certainly hope he enjoys the images as much as we enjoyed capturing them.

I keep looking at this photo and remembering that afternoon with Burnley and his Dad. It was very clear that although Burnley had only been “HOME” for 2 weeks, he had already bonded so beautifully with Michael.

I love how the tail is up, clearly secure and so expectant.

So, I am putting it all out there (or I should say, Burnley is putting it all out there) and the feeling that comes from this photo is so much more important than the slight impropriety of showing off his rear end.

Diesel is a Bullmastiff and is just over a year old. He is very much adored by his family and has brought much joy and happiness into their lives.

It was with great sadness that his sweet Mom told me that he was recently  diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a heart condition. Thankfully, medications and exceptional care have helped this sweet boy in the last few weeks and his Mom tells me he has been much better.

The day of our shoot he was full of energy and even managed to pull down his mother in the grass at Coffin Park. Not surprising  since he weighs more than she does!

Diesel, I am hoping and praying that you continue to feel like the puppy that you are and that your family gets to enjoy your antics and sweet disposition for many years to come.

This winter was very difficult in many ways; however, I am so amazed to say that with the challenges came new friendships and associations that I would not otherwise have made.

One of these new wonderful friends of mine drastically changed his lifestyle so as to accomodate  this sweet little boy. Burnley is a black lab through and through and is now 12 weeks old.

I met Burnley at the age of 10 weeks when his Dad initially requested photographs of this handsome rascal.

As most of you know, puppies grow fast! Dad was away, I was goofing off (yeah right) and we were a bit worried about catching him before he got much bigger.

Thankfully Spring is here on our little sandbar and was good to us last evening when we ventured down to the beach.

Burnley was at his best, showing off a bit for me and also demonstrating how already attached he is to his Daddy.

He is crazy handsome and I look forward to watching him grow up. Will show more of Burnley later this week.

Nantucket is flowing over with beautiful professional women who love their dogs as I do. I continue to be impressed by the relationships I see between these women and their dogs and would love to showcase a group of them in a very special way.

Am very excited about a fabulous photo shoot I am planning for August and am hereby announcing the casting call. Have never done such a thing so bear with me

Sorry, can’t share too much in the details category but I will say this…it will be fresh and amazing and super fun.

I will need 6-8  professional women who work and  reside year round on Nantucket and have a dog (or a pack).

Age: 18-104

No experience necessary

Must be willing to be “styled” (for that matter, I should probably also be clear: must be willing to be photographed!)

Puppy(s) should be able to maintain sit/stay and have basic obedience training

Must be on Nantucket for weekend of August 21-22, 2010

Model release required

Must be willing to dedicate approximately 2 hours to shoot

Please provide me with an email in which you tell me a bit about yourself, your life here on Nantucket, and your wonderful dog(s). I ask that you include a photo of you and your pet.

The women who are chosen will be gifted with a separate mini session from Charlotte Carey Photography and a mounted 8 x 10 inch  print from our photoshoot.
